CANVEY SWIMMER SOPHIE DRAKE OFF TO PRAGUE
WITH TEAM GB!
Talented Canvey Island Swimmer, Sophie Drake
has continued her recent good form at the
British Championships by being selected to
represent Team GB at the forthcoming
European Junior Championships in Prague.
 |
The British Championships at Sheffield had
proved a happy hunting ground for Sophie
where she produced personal best times in
both the 50m Freestyle and 100m Backstroke
event in which her 1.04.76 time was 100th of
a second inside the European Championship
Qualifying time. As well as breaking her previous best time,
set in Geneva in February Sophie was also
fortunate enough to swim with Olympic medal
winning hero’s Rebecca Adlington and Joanne
Jackson.
The Championships will be held in Prague
during July and Sophie will join the other
76 team members that make up the Great
Britain Squad.
Proud parent and Canvey Island Swimming Club
Chairman, Paul Drake said “Sophie’s
ambitions are now to do well in Prague and
to train hard for the Olympic trials which
will be held over the coming months. Sophie
would also like to thank all the members,
swimmers and friends of Canvey Swimming Club
who have supported her so well” |
