Payments to the Region
Please could all clubs add a reference to any BACs payments made to the region to ensure they are easily identifiable.

We often have events for more than one discipline running simultaneously and it is therefore not always easy to identify payments without a reference.  Thank you.
Swim England Masters Conference

Swim England are holding a Masters conference in Loughborough from 9.30am to 4pm on 10th November.

Further details can be found on the Masters Hub.

Leanne Brace
Congratulations to our Regional Development Manager, Leanne Brace, on the recent birth of Joshua Luke.

Although Leanne is on maternity leave until April 2019, it is business as usual for the Regional Office, with her roles being undertaken by other members of staff or volunteers.  Clubs should contact the Regional Office by email at east@swimming.org.

Safeguarding Training and DBS Checks
We have received multiple queries recently regarding which members of a club's workforce need to be DBS checked and attend safeguarding training.

Club welfare officers can find the information they need on our website.
Licensed Meets - Strobe Announcement
Swim England have recently announced changes to licensed meet criteria in relation to strobes for deaf swimmers.

This will affect Level 1-3 meets from 1st January 2019 so please ensure your club promoter is aware of the changes.
Swimming Regional Short Course Championships
Access to poolside and the changing village at all East Region swimming events is restricted to competitors for the session, coaches with coach passes, technical officials and appointed volunteers.  Parents and Spectators are not permitted poolside or in the changing village.
Safeguarding - Photography
Please remember that photography should be considered by clubs as a safeguarding issue.  Photos of children can easily be shared without the consent of their parents/carers which can have potentially serious safeguarding consequences.

Steps you can take to protect children include:
- Only using photos where everyone is fully-clothed
- Ensuring permission has been given to share photos
- Advising parents regarding sharing their photos online if other children are in them

For more information, read advice on photography and online safety.
2020 Summer Qualifying Window
Further to the announcement by British Swimming of a change to the qualifying window for 2020 (13th March - 10th May), the Regional Swimming Committee are working with the Regional Coaches Forum to consider programming for the Regional Long Course Championships in 2020.  More information will be announced as soon as possible on our website.
